2026 Salary Benchmarks

What Data Center Roles Pay, From Published Government Data

National pay ranges for the six roles we fill most, built from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics wage estimates. Every figure carries its source — no recycled recruiter surveys.

    National Median Pay by Role

The midpoint of what employers pay nationally for the closest matching occupation. Data center roles in live environments typically price above these figures.

Hourly Equivalents and Certifications by Role

Hourly figures divide the BLS annual wage by 2,080 paid hours, the standard BLS convention. They are a base-pay reference for contract budgeting, not a bill rate, which adds agency margin, burden, and overtime.

How overtime applies to data center roles

Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, non-exempt employees earn 1.5 times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Hourly technicians and most contractors on shift rotations are non-exempt. Salaried engineers and managers are usually exempt if they meet the duties test and earn at least $684 per week. Some states, including California, set stricter rules such as daily overtime.

    Do certifications raise pay?

No government source publishes a certification premium for these roles, so we do not quote one. In practice, credentials such as CCIE, CDCP, a PE license, or vendor UPS and switchgear training narrow the candidate pool, which is what pushes offers toward the 75th and 90th percentiles.
